CANCELED PARENTS

 Our daughter's relationship with Dara Colt, DeLaire High School teacher in GA began the day she stepped foot into her classroom. My daughter's relationship with her former high school teacher did not begin after she turned 18! When my daughter was first in Dara Colt's class she didn't like her. I told my daughter not to be judgmental, give her a chance.  My daughter, Elizabeth ended up admiring Dara Colt. When it came time for us to move in 2018, I sent Dara Colt an email, letting her know that our daughter admired her, could she tell her goodbye? Dara Colt  gave my daughter a note and a book. I thought that was sweet. The relationship should have ended there, or at least that is what I thought as a parent.  We believed that was the end of Dara Colt.  We reached out to Dara Colt many times, we sent many emails that went unanswered. We didn't understand we considered teachers to be trustworthy, honest, dependable. Surely she would care enough to reunite us with our daughter, reassure us, ease our minds? She didn't respond to us except for the one evasive email. We were left bewildered, we could not figure out why this was happening.  We have sent emails to our daughter, none have been answered. We have sent gifts, not knowing if they have been opened. We sent birthday cake, ice cream. We can't call or text our daughter,  no one has provided us with Elizabeth's new phone number. Our daughter either removed the SIM card, or threw her phone away she once had, who knows what happened to the phone?  Certainly not us. After all this time we still pay the bill in hopes she will turn the phone on again. We tried to reach out, but Elizabeth didn't respond.  On June 18, 2022 I got up the nerve to drive to Roeburgh, Georgia in Running County to see our daughter. This would be a four hour drive.  I had no expectations. I only wanted to tell my daughter I love her and that I am here for her should she ever need me.  Since it was such a long drive, I got up very early. I wanted to be there early enough in the morning so most likely Elizabeth would be there. I knocked on the front door, and Dean Colt came around from the side door. Dara Colt did not come outside, my daughter did not come outside.  Why did they refuse to come outside? Dean Colt was cordial, he did not yell at us or threaten us. I told him I only wanted to tell my daughter I love her, and I am here for her should she ever need me.  I simply said since my daughter has not come outside, I would call and request a welfare check just to make sure my daughter was okay.
