CANCELED PARENTS

 Time to wake up world. See past the narrow minded accusations of estranged adult children. No one is talking about the emotional abuse parents are experiencing. How adult children have turned their backs on their parents and pretend they don't exist. No one is admitting how malicious estrangement is, the never ending pain being caused to parents.  Social media influencers are out there criticizing parents. There is no shortage of crafty videos, blogs and social media posts labeling parents as toxic, even those without proper credentials labeling parents narcissist, and cruel abusive parents.  Estranged adult children are claiming they were traumatized as children because they had to do chores, didn't get their ears pierced when they wanted, wear the latest fashion trends as teens, go to the high school of their choice, drive the best car of their choice, live in the best house, parents not working the most glamorous job. They say anything they can to criticize the parents.   T

 Our daughter's relationship with Dara Colt, DeLaire High School teacher in GA began the day she stepped foot into her classroom. My daughter's relationship with her former high school teacher did not begin after she turned 18! When my daughter was first in Dara Colt's class she didn't like her. I told my daughter not to be judgmental, give her a chance.  My daughter, Elizabeth ended up admiring Dara Colt. When it came time for us to move in 2018, I sent Dara Colt an email, letting her know that our daughter admired her, could she tell her goodbye? Dara Colt  gave my daughter a note and a book. I thought that was sweet. The relationship should have ended there, or at least that is what I thought as a parent.  We believed that was the end of Dara Colt. Anything beyond that point without our knowledge or consent was violating our boundaries. Anything beyond that point we believe is not only immoral, unhealthy but also unethical.  Here is one of the emails sent to our daughter names changed of course event he pet's names. Dear Elizabeth We hope that you are doing well. I wonder if it snowed where you are, if it is beautiful, if it brought a smile to your face. Here there is just bitter cold wind to remind me of the bitter cold world. I want to remind you that your dad loves you with all his heart. He has always done his best for you. He deserves your love, you deserve the love of your dad. You both deserve better than to be apart from each other. I can be here as if I am tip-toeing on breakable glass, afraid to say anything to you out of fear that what I say will make you go away, afraid that I will never see or hear from you again. You are better than this, you are better than to make us your loving parents think or feel like this. My actions and your dad's actions are not keeping you away, we have tried to reach out to you only to have doors slammed in our faces time and time again. We were told that

   Nothing happy and uplifting about being estranged from your adult child. All you can do is say you love your child, try to reach out but you can't force them to contact you, tell you what is going on in their life.  Trying to do what I believed was right as a parent, I added my daughter to my health, vision and dental insurance policy. I thought it could possibly be helpful to Elizabeth, even if she doesn't speak to us. I thought she may find the benefits helpful.  Well it came time to verify my dependents. I was required to provide a copy of Elizabeth's birth certificate. Sounds simple and easy enough. Only Elizabeth took her birth certificate and social security card with her, but left her license. Somehow that was planned. Someone in a hurry to leave doesn't take a birth certificate do they? I wasn't able to get off work, so I asked my husband to go get a copy of her birth certificate, it was $25. He went to get the birth certificate, and they told him it did

  Estrangement has become trendy. There is no shortage of social media platforms encouraging and giving approval for young adults to become estranged from their parents. There are rules and examples of how to go no contact. Like the pied Piper of Hamlin if you play the right tune (frequency) they will fall in line or follow right along. The young are vulnerable, they are easy targets.   People are mesmerized by those trending videos, Instagram photos and those popular on  social media platforms. They are popular so people follow blindly ignoring the facts.  People want to be more like them, not lookin at the consequences of how they are hurting others or even how they are losing their self, losing their own identity. People join cults, gangs, follow drug dealers, sell their bodies for sex, no shortage of how people are convinced to change their lives, not always for the better doing things they never thought they would do.  Getting canceled is easy. Anyone not in agreement with someone

 We reached out to Dara Colt many times, we sent many emails that went unanswered. We didn't understand we considered teachers to be trustworthy, honest, dependable. Surely she would care enough to reunite us with our daughter, reassure us, ease our minds? She didn't respond to us except for the one evasive email. We were left bewildered, we could not figure out why this was happening.  We have sent emails to our daughter, none have been answered. We have sent gifts, not knowing if they have been opened. We sent birthday cake, ice cream. We can't call or text our daughter,  no one has provided us with Elizabeth's new phone number. Our daughter either removed the SIM card, or threw her phone away she once had, who knows what happened to the phone?  Certainly not us. After all this time we still pay the bill in hopes she will turn the phone on again. We tried to reach out, but Elizabeth didn't respond.  On June 18, 2022 I got up the nerve to drive to Roeburgh, Georgia in Running County to see our daughter. This would be a four hour drive.  I had no expectations. I only wanted to tell my daughter I love her and that I am here for her should she ever need me.  Since it was such a long drive, I got up very early. I wanted to be there early enough in the morning so most likely Elizabeth would be there. I knocked on the front door, and Dean Colt came around from the side door. Dara Colt did not come outside, my daughter did not come outside.  Why did they refuse to come outside? Dean Colt was cordial, he did not yell at us or threaten us. I told him I only wanted to tell my daughter I love her, and I am here for her should she ever need me.  I simply said since my daughter has not come outside, I would call and request a welfare check just to make sure my daughter was okay. He did not object. I was hoping maybe an officer could talk her into coming outside.  We waited for the deputy to ar
